New discoveries in Zimbabwe & Zambia!New discoveries in Zimbabwe & Zambia!
For many of our guests, a journey to Southern Africa comes to its crowning conclusion at the renowned Victoria Falls. Here, the mighty Zambezi, known by locals as the “Great River”, plunges over 100m/300ft into the depths of the gorge below, resulting in an incomparable natural spectacle for all to admire. Most journeys to Zimbabwe start and end at the Falls. For those who have more time to spare, an incredibly diverse country awaits discovery, guaranteeing fantastic wildlife encounters within their vast national parks such as Gonarezhou, Nyanga, Hwange, Matusadona, Matobo and Mana Pools.
Also rather unknown is Zimbabwe’s northern neighbour, Zambia. Heading out from Victoria Falls town on the Zimbabwean side, you soon reach its close counterpart, Livingstone on the Zambian side, from which one can also view the Victoria Falls. The town was named after the intrepid African explorer, David Livingstone, who advocated for the establishment of trade in central Africa and the abolition of the African slave trade. Crossing the Victoria Falls Bridge between the two countries is quite awe-inspiring: the graceful steel structure, completed in 1905 and an architectural marvel in its time, spans 250m/820ft and offers visitors a spectacular view of the gorge on one side and the Falls on the other. Zambia is a wildlife destination in its own right and one of the pioneers of the walking safari on the continent.
A visit to the Lower Zambezi, Kafue or Luangwa will leave a deep impression on anyone who visits these expansive national parks! A little known fact: the remote Liuwa Plains National Park hosts the second largest wildebeest migration on the continent (after Tanzania/Kenya), numbering around 30,000 animals each year…and the best part… the area is so remote, you will share this incredible spectacle with hardly anyone else!

Exciting journey possibilities in East Africa!
For those who know us well, know that we are deeply passionate about both our own home country, South Africa, and its wonderful neighbouring countries. We are constantly inspired to incorporate new regions into our portfolio, both within and also beyond these borders. An increasing number of our guests are travelling to East Africa and it is rightly on the top of many travel bucket-lists. Enthusiastic guests report frequently of their up-close-and-personal encounters with gorillas, chimpanzees and other magnificent wildlife, in the rainforests and multitude of wilderness areas of Rwanda and Uganda. Others are thrilled to experience the adrenaline of watching hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras making their annual great migration through the vastness of the Serengeti and Mara Regions. Rounding off these breathtaking adventures with a relaxing visit to the dreamy beaches of Zanzibar, Pemba or Mafia Island is a must for many! Truly unforgettable “African Moments”!

South Africa – a World in One Country
The diverse splendour of South Africa recently overwhelmed us yet again. Setting out on a new adventure and in search of new discoveries, we headed North to Johannesburg and then onto the pristine Lapala Wilderness Reserve. Here, the dedicated hoteliers of the family-owned Tintswalo lodges have once again outdone themselves. Their new Lapalala Wilderness Lodge – as with the sister properties within the Tintswalo portfolio – exceeds all expectations in terms of individual service, tasteful design and a fascinating insight into the surrounding nature and wildlife. Onwards we headed to visit several outstanding safari lodges in the private game reserves bordering the Kruger National Park, after which we journeyed through the tiny mountain kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland). We finished off our site inspection trip in Sodwana Bay and enjoyed outstanding diving experiences on their incredible reefs! All along the way, we had this indescribable sense of knowing how grateful we are to live in this magnificent part of the world!
Take a look for yourself and let yourself be inspired…
