After this unprecedented year, the upcoming Festive Season will no doubt be different to any one in recent memory. More than ever, we had a chance this year to pause and reflect on what is most important in our lives. Much more valuable than elaborate gifts, are our health, being with our loved ones, a sense of community and the prospect that 2021 will be a better year for all.
With the pandemic affecting so many vulnerable communities around us, the African Moments Team has decided to prioritize giving to those who need it most this year, and will be supporting a great initiative by Uthando (Love) South Africa and the Alcardo Andrews Foundation. These organizations, spearheaded by James Fernie and Aunty Avril, have raised funds to install two shipping containers in Hanover Park, which will now serve as food kitchens in this Cape Town suburb and will provide a stable base, hope and inspiration to the local community there. Through our donation and thanks to your loyalty, all of you too are automatically involved in the success of this great project, the opening of which was celebrated only a few days ago.

After a long lockdown, the Tourism industry breathed a collective sigh of relief, when the first borders started to re-open in this part of the world a few short months ago. In the meantime, all destinations in the African Moments portfolio in Southern and East Africa are open again and are greatly looking forward to welcoming you in the vast open spaces that can be found here! Currently only a negative COVID-PCR test is required for entry – and your African journey can begin!
The African philosophy of “Ubuntu” rang true more than ever this year. Often translated as “I am because we are”, it emphasises that we are stronger together, now perhaps more than ever. With this in mind, we send you our heartfelt thanks for your loyalty, dear Africa friends, even in these challenging times. We wish you a meaningful and restful Festive Season. Perhaps it will give us all a chance to get closer to the more authentic meaning of this time of year.
May you all be healthy and happy! Sending best wishes and warm African greetings,
Nicole, Dennis and the African Moments team
