Rwanda

With Rwanda’s dark past behind it, the proud East African nation, also known as the Land of a Thousand Hills, has become an increasingly popular destination for tourists wishing to see the majestic mountain gorillas in the wild.

This relatively recent development as a tourism destination means that the country is still very much unspoiled.  A green and eco-friendly tourist destination, Rwanda is also a great place to hike, go caving, and – you guessed it – go on safari.  While its mountain gorillas may be the main attraction, Rwanda’s Akagera National Park is a perfect place to try your luck at spotting three of the Big Five in the wild.  This beautiful savannah reserve lies in eastern Rwanda and boasts a broad variety of wildlife including elephants, buffalos, hippos, giraffes, hyenas or the recently re-introduced lion.

Rwanda also offers the largest tropical Montane rainforest in East Africa: Nyungwe Forest National Park.  This amazing park is the habitat of a wealth of endemic birds, a vast variety of plants (incl. over 200 orchid species) and a dozen species of primates including the chimpanzee.

To discover these highlights, we can tailor your journey to include a wide range of activities.  Besides going on a gorilla trek, why not include additional time to join a safari, a canopy tour, nature and birding walks or chimpanzee tracking.

Besides all the impressive parks, Rwanda offers you time to relax at a beach resort on Lake Kivu.  A kayak trip or a visit to the local fishermen in the village will enrich any trip to the lake.

Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, offers guests a range of interesting places to visit. You would be surprised how clean and organized the city is without losing its authentic African spirit. Take a stroll along the many boutiques, restaurants and markets or take part in a guided cultural activity. Visit the Kigali Memorial Centre or check out the Inema Art Centre.

We have no doubt, that any journey to Rwanda will be a life-changing experience for anyone who visits!
