In between designing tailor-made journeys, we took time out to find our preferred African Moment. This time we would like to present the Greenhouse Restaurant, one of South Africa’s Top 10 Restaurants
The Collection by Liz McGrath” includes three exceptionally beautiful boutique hotels in the Western Cape. The Greenhouse Restaurant is situated in one of these, the Cellars Hohenort Hotel, picturesquely situated on the slopes of Table Mountain within the heart of the Constantia Valley.
Each day, Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef Peter Tempelhoff and his team create a culinary work of art, setting the tone by including selected local ingredients. Each of the lovingly prepared dishes are served with a warm smile and is accompanied by the best of the Cape’s fine wines. We enjoyed an entire evening filled with the delights of their five-course Summer menu and were impressed by the amazing presentation and quality of food.
Our conclusion:
The Greenhouse Restaurant has re-interpreted South African cuisine at the highest level. Its place among the top 10 restaurants in South Africa is most certainly well deserved! Not only for its wonderful food, but for its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, who make you feel welcome from the very first moment you walk through the doors.
The name “Greenhouse” certainly does its name proud by being surrounded by lush gardens all around and offering fantastic views over the Constantia Valley.
